Day 1 Ban Huay Sai – Pak Beng (L,D)
Take the early morning ferry at approximately 08.00 across the Mekong River to Ban Huay Sai where clients will be met by our local representative. Depart Ban Huay Sai by boat down the Mekong River to Pak Beng stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. En route visit the Lao Theung village of Ban Paktha and the H’Mong village of Ban Houi Lam Penh. Arrive in the market town of Pak Beng and check in to the Pak Beng Guest House. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Pak Beng – Muang Xay (B,L,D)
After breakfast depart by pick-up for Oudomxay Province. Stop at a Lao Theung village and the trek for about an hour to visit villages of the Katou, Lu and Lao Neua ethnic minorities. Continue to Muang Hun for lunch. In the afternoon set off for the provincial capital of Muang Xay with a stop at a Thai Dam village along the way. Arrive at about 16.00 and check in to the Muang Xay Hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Muang Xay – Muang Khoa (B,L,D)
Make an early morning visit to the local market and after breakfast set off by pick-up to Muang Khoa in the south of Phongsali Province. Stop en route and take a short walk to Bang Tanong Nu. Visit the hot spring and temple at Muang La near the banks of the Pak River and have a picnic lunch. Continue to Muang Khoa, arriving at about 15.00. Visit some of the surrounding villages and explore the town. Check in to Muang Khoa Guest house. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Muang Khoa – Muang Samphan (B,L,D)
After breakfast depart by boat up the Nam Ou River to Muang Samphan with a stop for a picnic lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight in the village.

Day 5 Muang Samphan – Phongsali (B,L,D)
After breakfast continue by boat to the Lu village of Ban Hatsaa. Have a picnic lunch and then take a pick-up for the 25-km drive to Phongsali town. Check in to the Phongsali Guest House. Visit the town’s Ethnological Museum. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Phongsali (B,D)
After breakfast depart by pick-up for the 40-km drive to Ban Boun Neua. Commence a full day trek through the countryside to visit villages of the Thai Phounoi, K’Mong and Lu tribespeople with a picnic lunch along the way. Return to Phongsali in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight. (It may be possible for participants to stay overnight in one of the villages but this will not be known in advance of arrival).

Day 7 Phongsali
Day free to explore the town and the surrounding area. A picnic lunch can be provided if wished. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Phongsali – Muang Khoa
After breakfast drive to Muang Khoa. On the way visit the Ethnic minorities village along the road at Boun Neua, Ban Yo, Boun Tai. Lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight Guest House at Muang Khoa.

Day 9 Muang Khoa – Luang Prabang
After breakfast continue by boat down the Nam Ou River to the former royal capital of Luang Prabang with stops on the way for a picnic lunch and to visit the holy caves of Pak-Ou by the confluence of the nam Ou and the Mekong Rivers. Arrive Luang Prabang in the late afternoon and check in to the new Luang Prabang or Phousi Hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10 Luang Prabang
After breakfast take a tour of the city visiting Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Mai, Wat Wisunarat and Wat Sene. In the afternoon visit the Thai Lu village of Ban Phanom, famous for its cotton and silk hand-weaving and Phousi Hill at sunset. Dinner and overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 11 Luang Prabang - Vientiane
After breakfast visit the National Museum, house in the former Royal Palace, and the central market. After lunch transfer to the airport for the 40-minutes fight to Vientiane. Check in to Paracel Blanc or Duand Deuan Hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12 Vientiane
Day free until departure.
